Blue Hens Win First
Tournament Since Sept. 1997; Milowe Places
Second
AVONDALE, PA -- The University of
Delaware men's golf team captured its first tournament title
since the 1997-98 season Wednesday by winning the Goldey
Beacom Invitational at Hartefeld Golf Club.
Delaware freshman Devin Milowe
shot a three over par 75 to place second overall and three
other Delaware players finished in the top 10 for the Blue
Hens. Milowe's second place finish was the highest for a UD
player since Terry Maguire won the Scotty Duncan
Memorial Tournament April 28-29, 2000.
The Blue Hens' last tournament title came
Sept. 18-19, 1997 when Delaware captured the America East
conference title.
Delaware shot a team total of 318 to win
the tournament ahead of runner-up LaSalle (327), host
Goldey Beacom (331), Haverford (368), and University of the
Sciences (398.)
Goldey Beacom's Mike Tobiason won the
medalist honors after shooting a five under par 67 over the
6,740-yard course. Milowe was second followed by LaSalle's
Ed Johnson at 78, teammate Ben Stanzl (78), and
teammate B.J. Jaworski (81).
Delaware will continue action Sept. 30 at
the George Washington Invitational.
