Fifth-place finish Delaware's
best of the season heading into CAA
Championships
LOPATCONG, NJ -- Daniel
Spiker and Jeff Hopper each shot a two-day total
150 (76-74) to lead the University of Delaware golf team to
a fifth place team finish at the Lafayette Invitational held
at The Architects Golf Club this weekend.
Spiker, making his first appearance of
the spring season, finished 11 shots behind event-winner
Paul Polinsky of Saint Joseph's. Spiker's two-day score was
his lowest two-round score of the 2001-02 season and put him
in a tie for ninth with seven other golfers.
Hopper also made his first appearance of
the spring season, firing a 73 on Sunday after an opening
round 77 on Saturday.
Duquesne won the team championship with a
two-day score of 590, three shots ahead of Saint
Joseph's.
Delaware will participate in the Colonial
Athletic Association Championship this Friday, Saturday and
Sunday at The Crossings GC in Glen Allen, VA.
