Lehigh Fall Invitational

 Blue Hens Place 14th at Don Mershon Classic

 

TELFORD, PA -- The University of Delaware men's golf team placed 14th out of 15 teams at the Don Mershon Golf Classic hosted by Lehigh University Sunday and Monday at Indian Valley Country Club.

George Washington won the team title with a two-day, 36-hole total of 298-307=605, downing runner-up and host Lehigh and Colgate by 10 strokes. Siena was fourth followed by Drexel, Bucknell, Monmouth, Lafayette, Ottawa, and Long Island in the 15-team field. Delaware shot a two-day total of 329-332=661 to place 14th in the 15-team field.

George Washington placed two golfers in the top five as Michael Ball won the individual title with a 75-72=147 over the 6,859-yard, par 72 course while teammate Brian Carroll tied for third at 70-80=150. Lehigh's John Jaravata was second with a 75-74=149, two strokes off the winning score.

Delaware, which fielded an all-freshman squad for the tournament, was led by Devin Milowe who carded a 78 Sunday and 81 Monday for a 159, good for 26th place overall. Also for the Hens, Hall Chaney placed 39th (81-81=162), J.J. Oakley was 61st (86-83=169), B.J. Jaworski was 69th (88-87=165), and Ben Stranzl was 70th (84-93=177).

The Blue Hens will continue fall action Oct. 28-29 at the Temple Invitational.
