Balanced Blue Hens Take
Fourth Place in Tough Conditions
ABSECON, NJ -- Four University of
Delaware golfers placed in the top 20 overall as the Blue
Hens finished fourth in the team standings at the John
MacDonald Golf Classic hosted by Temple University Tuesday
at Galloway National Golf Club.

Delaware shot a team score of 308 Monday
and 331 Tuesday to finish at 639 in the two-day, 36-hole
event which included 10 teams. Iona overtook first day
leader Rutgers to win the team championship with a score of
622. Rutgers was second at 624 followed by host Temple,
Delaware, and Loyola.
Nine of the 10 teams shot worse Tuesday
as the group braved cold, rain, and high winds over the par
71, 6,634-yard course. Of the 50 players who teed off
Tuesday, only eight managed to break 80 and seven shot 90 or
higher. Iona's Mark LeVeck led all golfers on Tuesday with a
76.
The Blue Hens used a balanced attack as
just 10 strokes separated Delaware's top finisher Jake
Korb (74-82=156) and Mike Hoffman
(82-84=166).
Korb finished seventh overall while
Dan Spiker was 12th (79-81=160), Chase Miller
was 13th (77-84=161), Devin Milowe was 19th
(78-86=164), and Hoffman was 24th.
Iona freshman Angus McAllister won the
individual title as he shot 68 on Monday and 81 Tuesday for
a 149.
The Blue Hens will wrap up their fall
season under head coach Mike Keogh today (Oct. 30) when they
take on Goldey Beacom and Wesley College in a
tri-meet.
