 Spiker Places 12th as Hens Place Fourth at Towson

 

WESTOVER, MD -- Freshman Devin Milowe (Eastern/Voorhees, NJ) fired a 76 and sophomore Daniel Spiker (Poolesville/Poolesville, MD) carded a 77 Sunday to lead the University of Delaware men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Drew Upton Classic hosted by Towson University at Great Hope Country Club.

Delaware, which posted its sixth Top 10 team finish in nine events this season, shot a team score of 314 on Saturday and 319 on Sunday over the 7,047-yard, par 72 course to finish tied for fourth in the 20-team field.

The University of Pennsylvania, led by individual medalist Chad Perman (72-77=149), took the team title with a combined score of 625 over 36 holes, edging Navy by just one stroke. Duquesne was third with a score of 629 while Delaware and Skidmore tied for fourth at 633. Saint Joseph's, host Towson, Drexel, Rider, and Colgate rounded out the top 10.

Milowe shot 81 on Saturday and 76 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 156 to place tied for 12th with four other golfers, including teammate Spiker, who carded a 80 Saturday and 77 on Sunday for a 156.

Also for the Blue Hens, freshman Steve Banks (Freehold/Freehold, NJ) was 20th with a 159 (77-82), sophomore Chase Miller (Brandywine/Wilmington, DE) was 46th with a total of 163 (77-86), and freshman J.J. Oakley (Cape Henlopen/Lewes, DE) was 50th with a score of 164 (80-84).

Delaware will return to action April 3 when the Hens compete at the Widener Invitational at Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown, DE.
