 Korb Places Fifth; Blue Hens Fifth in Team Standings

MIDDLETOWN, DE -- Senior Jake Korb fired a three over par 75 to tie for third place and lead the University of Delaware golf team to a fifth place team finish at the Widener University Invitational Thursday afternoon at Frog Hollow Golf Club.

NCAA Division II Millersville captured the team title with 308 points while Delaware Valley and Goldey Beacom tied for second at 323, Widener was fourth at 329, and Delaware and La Salle, the only two Division I schools in the tournament, tied for fifth with 333. A total of 18 teams competed in the one day, 18-hole event.

Korb led all Blue Hen golfrs with a 75 over the 6,608-yard layout, which will also serve as the host site for the annual Scotty Duncan Memorial hosted by Delaware April 26-27.

Also for the Hens, sophomore captain Chase Miller was 23rd with an 83, freshman J.J. Oakley fired an 84 to place 29th, freshman Buddy DeLaPaz shot a 91 in his collegiate debut to place 62nd, and sophomore Jeff Hopper carded a 93 for a 69th place finish.

Brad Gordon of Millersville and Mike Tobiason of Goldey Beacom shared medallist honors as both shot 74.

Delaware will continue action this weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy Spring Tournament in Annapolis, MD.
