Blue Hens Remain Ninth in Team Standings; Five Hens Shoot in 70's

SUFFOLK, VA -- The University of Delaware men's golf team remained in ninth place following the second round of the Colonial Athletic Association Golf Championships Saturday at Nansemond River Golf Club.

The Blue Hens, who placed ninth last season at the event, will play the third and final round Sunday beginning at 7:20 a.m. UNC Wilmington remained atop the team leaders with a one over par score of 577. Old Dominion was eight strokes back in second place while Towson was third 16 strokes back.

All five Delaware players shot in the 70's Saturday as Chase Miller fired a team-low 77, Steve Banks shot a 78, and Joe McLister, Dan Spiker, and J.J. Oakley all carded 79s over the 7,032-yard, par 72 course. Banks leads all UD players and is tied for with a two-day score of 153 (75-78).

Derek Brown of UNC Wilmington shot a 69 Saturday to take over the individual lead at 140 (71-69), one stroke better than Towson's Billy Wingerd (73-68=141).
