Banks Enjoys Career High Finish as Hens Place 15th as a Team

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The University of Delaware shot a team score of 316 Sunday to finish at 633 and place 5th in the team standings at the U.S. Naval Academy Spring Golf Invitational Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.

Delaware, which improved one shot from its score of 616 Saturday, placed 15th among the 23-team field. Johnson and Wales won the team title with a score of 603 over the 6,611-yard, par 71 course, six strokes better than runners-up Loyola and Towson.

Blue Hen junior Steve Banks enjoyed his highest collegiate finish as he shot a 76 Saturday and a 75 Sunday to finish in a tie for ninth place with a 36-hole score of 151.

Also for the Hens, freshman Joe McLister placed 30th at 156 (77-79), junior Dan Spiker was 70th at 162 (84-78), sophomore Devin Milowe was 88th at 165 (81-84), and freshman Tyler Kupper was 110th at 175 (83-92).

Binghamton's Joe Kunz took medalist honors with a one-over par score of 143, shooting a 71 Saturday and 72 Sunday. His score was one stroke better than Towson's Billy Wingard, who shot scores of 69-75=144. Banks was one of seven players tied for ninth place.

Delaware will continue action April 9-10 at the Lafayette College Spring Invitational at Center Valley (PA) Country Club.
