Freshman Joe McLister Places Ninth to Lead Hens to Fifth Place Team Finish

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE -- Freshman Joe McLister tied for ninth place with a 36-hole total of 150 and junior Dan Spiker was 11th one stroke back at 151 to lead the University of Delaware men's golf team to a fifth place team finish at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational hosted by George Washington University Monday afternoon at Kings Cree Country Club.

The host Colonials won the team title in the one-day event with a team score of 588, one stroke better than runner-up Drexel (589) in the 10-team field. Temple was third at 613 followed by Hartford at 622 and a tie for fifth place at 625 between Delaware and Iona.

The tournament was the third of the fall season for the Blue Hens, who will travel to the Mulekicker Fall Classic hosted by the U.S. Military Academy Oct. 4-6. The Hens are the defending champions.

McLister shot a career-low one over par 73 over the 6,664-yard course in the morning round and came back with a 77 in the afternoon to place tied for ninth with a 151. Spiker, Delaware's top player the last two seasons, shot scores of 77 and 74 to finish one shot back.

Also for the Hens, captain Chase Miller was 24th (77-80=157), freshman Matt Grobstein was 44th (81-87=168), and sophomore B.J. Jaworski was 47th (86-86=172).

George Washington placed two golfers in the top three as Andrew Gallo captured medalist honors with a 72-69=141 and Federico Guzman was third with scores of 72-74=146. Drexel's Joe April placed second, two shots of the winning score with totals of 71-72=143.
