Golfers Earn Eighth Place Finish at CAA
Tournament; McLister Leads Hens with 23rd

HOT
SPRINGS, VA -- Senior Steve Banks and
sophomore Josh Williamowsky both shot
team-best scores of 76 as the University
of Delaware shot a team score of 309 and
finished eighth after the final round of
the Colonial Athletic Association Golf
Championships at the The Cascades Course
at the Homestead Resort Sunday afternoon.
Delaware,
which shot a three-round team score of
937, finished in eighth place, its best
finish since placing eighth in the Blue
Hens' first year in the CAA in 2002. The
Blue Hens finished ninth each of the last
two seasons.
Sophomore
Joe McLister (right) finished as the Blue
Hens' top individual as he shot 78 Sunday
to finish in a tie for 23rd place with an
overall score of 230 over the 6,679-yard,
par 70 course. McLister improved seven
spots from a 30th place finish last season
at the CAA Tournament.
Also for
the Hens, Banks shot a 76 to finish tied
for 32nd at 237, senior Dan Spiker shot 84
Sunday and finished tied for 34th at 239,
sophomore Williamowsky shot a 76 and
finished tied for 34th at 239, and
freshman Britt Murdoch carded a 79 Sunday
and finished tied for 48th with a
three-day score of 249.
UNC
Wilmington captured its second straight
team title, and the automatic berth into
the NCAA Regionals that comes with it,
with a three-day score of 884. The
Seahawks were consistent, shooting 298
Friday, 292 Saturday, and 294 Sunday. They
finished 10 strokes ahead of runner-up
Towson at 894.
Virginia
Commonwealth was third at 895 followed by
William & Mary (900), James Madison
(907), Old Dominion (921), George Mason
(936), Delaware (937), Drexel (941), and
Hofstra (959).
UNC
Wilmington placed three golfers in the top
10 as Brian Joyce took medalist honors
with a score of 71-71-68=210, Will
Shambley was eighth at 78-73-72=223, and
Marc-Andre Roy was 10th at 74-75-77=226.
VCU's Manual Relancio was second at 217
(74-74-69) while defending champion Billy
Wingerd of Towson was third at 219
(73-74-72).
Delaware
will close out its season May 1-2 when the
Hens host the annual Scotty Duncan
Memorial Tournament at Back Creek Country
Club in Middletown, DE.
