STANTON, DE -- The University of Delaware golf “blue” team is in first place while the Blue Hen “gold” team is in seventh place following the first day of the Scotty Duncan Memorial Tournament held Saturday at White Clay Creek Golf Course.

The UD “blue” team shot a 306 to finish 18 over par at the par-72, 7,007-yard course. Drexel is in second place with a score of 313, while Iona is third with a 320 score. Temple and Goldey-Beacom are tied for fourth as both teams finished at 326, while Wilmington College is sixth at 327, the Delaware “gold” team is seventh at 332 and Neumann is eighth at 347.

Delaware freshman Dan Rexon shot 37-38-75 to finish three over par and is tied for the lead with Mike Williams of Goldey-Beacom, who shot 39-36-75. Blue Hen freshman John Jensen is third at four over par after shooting 40-36-76, while fellow freshman Jason Bernstein is tied for fourth at five over par after shooting 38-39-77.

Senior Joe McLister shot 40-38-78 to finish tied for eighth at six over par, while sophomore Tommy Ellison (right) and junior Britt Murdoch are each tied for 11th place at seven over par. Ellison shot 38-41-79, while Murdock shot 42-37-79. Senior Josh Williamowsky is tied for 21st at 10 over par as he shot 39-43-82, while freshman Mike Barrow is tied for 25th at 12 over par after shooting 41-43-84. Junior Mike Strasburg shot 40-47-87 to finish in 33rd place at 15 over par.

The invitational concludes Sunday, with play beginning at 10 a.m.
