CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- The University of Delaware golf team concluded its 2008 spring season by finishing in a tie for 17th place this weekend at the Cavalier Classic hosted by the University of Virginia.

The Blue Hens posted team scores of 311 during each round to finish at 622, 46 over par. The host Cavaliers captured the team title with a one under par score of 575, three shots ahead of Augusta State at 578. North Carolina State was third at 584, while Longwood placed fourth at 591 and Old Dominion finished fifth at 592.

Delaware senior Britt Murdoch (at right) capped his Blue Hen career by shooting an eight over par 76-76-152 on the par 72, 6,879-yard course to finish in a tie for 44th in the individual standings.

Freshman Colin Smith tied for 58th place after he shot a 10 over par 75-79-154, while junior Tommy Ellison finished in a tie for 72nd place as he shot a 12 over par 80-76-156.

Senior Peter Danby tied for 94th place after shooting a 19 over par 80-83-163, while freshman Kevin McLister finished in a tie for 105th place after he shot a 90-80-170, 26 over par.

Henrik Norlander of Augusta State earned medalist honors with a five under par score of 71-68-139 while Greg Carlin of Virginia, who shot a 69-71-140, and Brad Revell of North Carolina State, who shot a 70-70-140, were each four under par to finish one shot back.
