STANTON, DE -- The University of Delaware golf team shot a 627 to finish in ninth place out of 16 teams at the two-day Scotty Duncan Memorial held Saturday and Sunday at the White Clay Creek Golf Course.

Iona and Cornell tied for first at the tournament with 24 over par scores of 600, followed by Bucknell at 611. James Madison and Navy tied for fourth place with 613 scores, ahead of Pennsylvania at 614, Drexel at 618, Temple at 624, and the Blue Hens.

Delaware junior Jeff Griest shot a 78-73=151, seven over par, at the par 72, 6,467-yard course to finish in a tie for 11th place in the individual standings for the Blue Hens. Freshman Kevin McLister tied for 17th place after he shot 76-77=153, nine over par, while sophomore Mike Barrow tied for 38th place after shooting 76-83=159 to finish 15 over par.

Sophomore Dan Rexon, who like Barrow was playing as an individual, tied for 49th place after he shot 77-84=161, 17 over par. Freshman Colin Smith shot 80-84=164, 20 over par, to tie for 58th place, while senior Britt Murdoch tied for 61st place after he shot 77-88=165, 21 over par. Junior Steve Boerner, also playing as an individual, tied for 79th place after shooting 85-88=173, 29 over par.

Sean Semenetz of Drexel earned medalist honors by shooting a one under par score of 72-71=143, two shots ahead of Bucknell’s Andrew Cohen at 74-71=145 and Iona’s Sean Curtin at 69-76=145.

The Blue Hens have now finished in the top 10 in all four of the tournaments they have played in this fall.

Delaware returns to action on October 12-13 when the Blue Hens compete in the Hofstra Invitational at Bethpage Golf Course.
