Ellison Shoots One Under Par as Blue Hen Golf Team in Third Place After First Day of Lafayette Invitational

EASTON, PA -- Tommy Ellison (at right) shot a one under par 35-36-71 as the University of Delaware golf team sits in third place out of 25 teams Saturday following the first day of the two-day Lafayette Invitational held at the Center Valley Golf Club.

The Blue Hens shot a team score of 301 on Saturday, behind only Drexel at 289 and Duquesne at 296. Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, Siena, and St. Francis (PA) are all tied for fourth place one shot behind Delaware at 302.

Ellison recorded his lowest round of the spring and his second lowest of the year by shooting one under par on the par 72, 6,703-yard course. Britt Murdoch is tied for 22nd place after shooting a three over par score of 35-40-75, while Colin Smith shot a 37-40-77, five over par, to finish in a tie for 38th place.

Steve Boerner is tied for 51st place after he shot a six over par 38-40-78, while Kevin McLister is tied for 88th place as he shot a 10 over par 37-45-82.

Brendan Madden of Duquesne (33-37-70) and Dan Abbondandolo of Siena (35-35-70) are tied for first place in the individual standings after each player finished two under par.

The Lafayette Invitational concludes Sunday with another single round.
