NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware head golf coach Mike Keogh has announced that Mike Barrow has been elected captain of the Blue Hens for the 2009-10 season.
Barrow, a Newark native who will be the Blue Hens’ lone senior next year, appeared in two tournaments for Delaware this past season. He shot an 85-83-168 at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Tournament on October 4-5 and shot an 83-77-89-249 at the Towson Invitational on March 28-29.
Barrow has played in four career tournaments for the Blue Hens, averaging 81.78 strokes per round.
“Mike is an integral part of our team, and he does everything we ask him to do,” said Keogh, who will be entering his ninth season as Blue Hen head coach in 2009-10. “He has shown great leadership ability and has been an extremely positive influence on the rest of the team. The other players look up to Mike, and he is always pushing the guys to get better.”
Prior to arriving at Delaware Barrow was a four-year standout on the golf team at nearby Newark High School, where he earned four letters and served as team captain during his senior year.
