WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Blue Hen senior captain Tommy Ellison (at right) posted a two-round score of 143 to tie for fifth place and lead the University of Delaware golf team to a 13th place finish out of 22 teams at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort.

Ellison followed his even par 71 on Monday with a one over par 72 Tuesday on the par 71, 6831-yard course. He posted his second top 10 finish of the week after placing fifth at the George Washington Invitational over the weekend.

Sophomore Justin Martinson tied for 46th place after shooting 73-79-152, 10 over par, during the tournament, while freshman Greg Matthias also shot a 10 over par 74-78-152. Sophomore Colin Smith finished in a tie for 110th place after he shot 86-81-167, 25 over par.

Liberty captured the team title with a two-day team score of 574, finishing four strokes ahead of second place Campbell at 578. After shooting a 295 on Monday, Delaware recorded a 310 score on Tuesday to finish at 605. The 13th place finish marked the first time in seven tournaments during the 2008-09 season that the Blue Hens did not finish in the top five.

Robert Karlsson of Liberty earned medalist honors with a one under par score of 70-71-141 while Eric Plisko of Temple (72-70-142), Tobias Pettersson of Liberty (71-71-142), and Richard Schenz-Davis of Liberty (71-71-142) each finished at even par to tie for second place. Ellison and Immu Korvenmaa of Gardner-Webb (70-73-143) tied for fifth place at one over par.

Delaware returns to action this Saturday and Sunday when the Blue Hens compete in the Towson Collegiate Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.
