RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware sophomore Justin Martinson was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Martinson, a native of Avondale, Pa. (Kennett HS), captured the George Washington Invitational over the weekend. He shot a one under par 71 Friday on the par 72, 6,843-yard course during the first round at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club.

Martinson, a first year transfer from Charleston Southern, followed with a 74 on Saturday to finish with a two-day today of 145, one over par, to claim his first career individual title.

Martinson tied for 46th place by shooting a 73-79-152, 10 over par, Monday and Tuesday at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate held at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. He is one of only two Blue Hens to appear in all seven tournament so far this season, and ranks second on the team with a 74.29 average round.

Martinson and the Blue Hens return to action this Saturday and Sunday when Delaware competes in the Towson Spring Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.
