NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men’s golf head coach Mike Keogh has announced that Justin Martinson (at right), a transfer from Charleston Southern University, has joined the Blue Hens and will compete for UD in the fall.

Martinson, who finished second at Charleston Southern and 14th in the Big South Conference with a 75.29 stroke average during his freshman season, will have three years of eligibility remaining at Delaware.

Martinson was one of only two Buccaneer golfers to appear in all nine tournaments during the 2007-08 season, and finished no lower than third among CSU golfers in every event. He recorded four top 20 finishes on the year, including a season-best 11th place finish at the CSU Fall Invitational. Martinson, whose lowest round of the year was a 68, shot 74 or lower in nine of his 24 rounds on the season. He finished 13th at the Big South Conference Championship, shooting a 72 and 73 in the final two rounds.

Martinson, a native of Avondale, PA, was the captain of the Kennett High School golf team during his senior season. He was the 2006 SCCL League champion when he shot a two under par 68, and was the 2006 PIAA East Regional champion after shooting a four under par 68. The Southern Chester County League Player of the Year as a senior, Martinson finished among the top five in 15 IJGT tournaments during the 2006-07 season and placed second in the 2007 IJGT Tour Championship.

Martinson was also the 2007 Delaware Junior Amateur Champion and the 2007 Delaware Junior Player of the Year.
