NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware golf head coach Mike Keogh (at right) has announced that two local high school standouts will enroll at UD and begin playing for the Blue Hens in the 2009-10 season.
Wilmington, Del. native Jerry Temple, Jr. is a three-time DIAA First Team All-State selection and has led Salesianum School to the last three state championships. Temple was named the Delaware High School Golfer of the Year in 2007 when he captured the Delaware Individual High School Championship. A two-time captain of the Delaware Williamson Cup team, Temple placed second at the Delaware Junior Amateur by shooting a 74-75-149. He will also serve as team captain for Salesianum as a senior this spring.
J.R. Fasy, a Landenberg, Pa. native who attends St. Mark’s High School in Wilmington, has been twice named DIAA First Team All-State. A two-time Wilmington Country Club junior club champion, Fasy twice was selected and played for the Delaware Williamson Cup Team that represented the state of Delaware.
“We feel that it is a testament to our improving program to have good, local players that received interest from other prominent schools in the northeast staying home to attend Delaware,” Keogh said. “We feel that J.R. and Jerry will contribute greatly to our team chemistry and will have bright college careers.”
