STANTON, Del. -- University of Delaware sophomore Colin Smith (at right) shot an impressive five-under par score of 67 on Sunday afternoon to finish with a team total of 137 and capture the individual title at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Golf Invitational hosted by Delaware at White Clay Creek Country Club.

Smith, who shot a 70 in Saturday’s first round over the par 72, 6,861-yard course, was one of three Delaware players to finish in the top 10 as he led the Blue Hens to a second place finish in the team championship. Seton Hall took overall team title with a two-day, 36-hole score of 581, just two strokes better then Delaware.

Monmouth and Drexel tied for third in the 16-team field with a score of 614 and were followed by Bucknell, Rutgers, Iona, Lehigh, Cornell, Mt. St. Mary’s, Fairfield, Goldey Beacom, Delaware Gold, Fairleigh Dickinson, Lafayette, and Hofstra.

Delaware, coming off a first place finish at the Cornell Invitational last week, has now finished either first or second in all three tournament this season. The Hens will close out the fall season Oct. 13-14 at the Liberty University Invitational and Oct. 25-26 at the Lehigh Invitational.

Smith, a graduate of nearby Salesianum School, won his first career title after placing second at the Navy Invitational earlier this season. He is the first Blue Hen player to win a tournament individual title since Jason Bernstein won the Scotty Duncan Invitational Oct. 7-8, 2006.

Also for Delaware, Justin Martinson was third with a score of 71-73=144, Tommy Ellison placed ninth with a score of 75-75=150, Kevin McLister was 12th at 75-77=152, and Steve Scialo was 71st at 87-81=168.
