Scialo Leads Blue Hen Golfers To Third Place Finish at Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware golf team posted a two-round team total of 599 to finish in third place out of 15 teams this weekend at the rain-shortened Cornell Invitational.

The second round of the tournament was suspended due to darkness on Saturday and was completed Sunday morning, but the third round was canceled due to rain.

Binghamton captured the team title with a 590 team score, while Bucknell was second at 597 and the Blue Hens finished third. Lafayette, which shot a 607, and Cornell, which finished at 608, rounded out the top five.

Blue Hen sophomore Stephen Scialo (at right) shot a 75-71-146 on the par 72, 6,855-yard course to finish tied for fourth in the individual standings at two over par. Junior Justin Martinson tied for eighth place after he shot a 75-73-148, four over par.

Junior Kevin McLister finished tied for 17th after he shot a 77-71-151, seven over par, while sophomore Greg Matthias shot an 81-75-156, 12 over par, to tie for 41st place.

Sophomore Bobby Arthur, who finished with an 84-73-157, tied for 46th place at 13 over par.

Brian Bartow of Bucknell captured medalist honors with a one under par score of 74-69-143.

The Blue Hens return to action on October 4-5 when they host the Scotty Duncan Memorial Invitational at White Clay Creek Golf Course in Wilmington, Del.
