STANTON, Del. -- Led by a first place medalist finish by junior Kevin McLister (at right), the University of Delaware golf team continued it impressive fall play by capturing its own Scotty Duncan Memorial Tournament title Monday afternoon at White Clay Creek Golf Club.

The Blue Hens, who posted a team score of 606 to down runner-up George Washington by six strokes, won the annual tournament for the first time since the 2006-07 season and captured its first team title since winning the Cornell Invitational last year on Sept. 26-27. Delaware has now finished among the top five finishers in 10 of its last 13 tournament appearances since last season.

McLister followed up a 73 on Sunday by shooting a sizzling par 72 - the low single round score in the tournament - over the 6,861-yard course on Monday afternoon as he posted four straight birdies at one point to stay out front. He captured his first tournament title as a college player and posted his best finish since placing eighth at the Liberty University Tournament in the fall of 2008.

George Washington was second with a team total of 612 followed by Rutgers, Wilmington University A, Iona, Lehigh, St. Francis (Pa.), Monmouth, Bucknell, Fairfield, Mt. St. Mary’s, Wilmington B, Goldey-Beacom, Ottawa, and Hofstra in the 15-team field.

McLister led three Blue Hen players in the top five and four in the top 10 as Justin Martinson finished fourth with a 150 (76-74), Greg Matthias was fifth with a 152 (77-75), and Mike Barrow, playing as an individual, finished sixth with a 153 (76-77).

George Washington’s Brendan Barrack carded a 74 on Monday to finish in second place with a two-day total of 148 while James Hilaire of Rutgers placed third with a score of 73-76=149.
