ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The University of Delaware golf team will open its 2009 fall season this Saturday and Sunday when the Blue Hens compete in the Navy Fall Classic.

The Blue Hens will be led by junior Justin Martinson (at right), who averaged 74.59 strokes per round in 2008-09, when he earned medalist honors at the George Washington Invitational and the Lafayette Invitational. Sophomore Greg Matthias, who posted an average round of 76.86, and junior Kevin McLister, who averaged 76.90 strokes per round, will also see plenty of action for Delaware.

Senior captain Mike Barrow also returns for the Blue Hens, along with sophomores Stephen Scialo and Bobby Arthur.

Delaware is looking to build on an impressive 2008-09 campaign in which the Blue Hens won the Cornell Invitational and finished second in three other tournaments. UD placed among the top 10 in nine of 10 tournaments on the year, including eight top-five finishes.

The Blue Hens will continue their fall schedule on Sept. 26-27 at the Cornell Invitational before hosting the annual Scotty Duncan Memorial at White Clay Creek Golf Course on Oct. 4-5. Delaware will also compete in the William & Mary Invitational on Oct. 10-11, the Seton Hall Invitational on Oct. 17-18, the Wesley Tournament on Oct. 19, and the Old Dominion Invitational on Oct. 26-27 during its 2009 fall season.
