Blue Hen Golfers Tied For Ninth Place Following First Day Of Navy Fall Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The University of Delaware golf team is tied for ninth place out of 17 teams after recording a 302 team score on Saturday following the first day of the Navy Fall Classic.

Junior Justin Martinson (at right) led the Blue Hens during their 2009 fall season opener as he shot an even par 36-35-71 on the par 71, 6,528-yard USNA course to finish tied for 10th place.

Sophomore Stephen Scialo is tied for 47th place after shooting a five over par 39-37-76, while junior Kevin McLister shot a seven over par 38-39-77 to tie for 55th place. Sophomore Greg Matthias is tied for 65th place as he shot a seven over par 39-39-78, while sophomore Bobby Arthur shot an eight over par 40-39-79 to finish 76th.

Ben Hayes of Navy leads the field after shooting a four under par 34-33-67, while Brandon Park of Seton Hall sits one shot back after he posted a three under par 34-34-68.

The host Midshipmen lead the team standings with a five under par 279, three strokes ahead of second place Northwestern at 282. Villanova sits in third place at 285, Seton Hall is fourth at 286, and Saint Joseph’s and Drexel are tied for fifth at 291.

The Navy Fall Classic concludes Sunday with another single round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
