TULSA, Okla. -- University of Delaware golfer Kevin McLister shot a 15 over par 85 on Tuesday during the second round of the 109th United States Amateur Championship.

McLister, who will be a junior on the Blue Hen golf team this fall, recorded an 85 on the par 70, 7,093-yard course at Southern Hills Country Club. McLister’s two-day score of 161, 21 over par, put him in a tie for 275th place and he did not qualify for match play that will determine the champion.

McLister recorded four pars, four bogeys and a triple bogey during a front nine of 42, seven over par. He posted pars on the first, fourth, seventh and eighth holes, but was hurt by a triple bogey on the par-five fifth hole.

McLister recorded five bogeys and a double bogey on the 10th through 16th holes, but finished strong by posting a par on the par-4 17th and notching his lone birdie on the par-4 18th.

McLister, the third Blue Hen to compete in the U.S. Amateur in the last five years, ranked fourth on Delaware with a 76.90 round average last season, including a season-best eighth place finish at the Liberty Invitational. The Blue Hens open their 2009 fall season on September 12-13 when they compete in the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
