McLister Earns Medalist Honors as Blue Hens Win First Annual Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic

WYOMING, Del. -- University of Delaware junior Kevin McLister (at right) shot a seven under par 68-69-137 to earn medalist honors and lead the Blue Hen golf team to the First Annual Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic title, Delaware's fourth consecutive team championship.

Delaware recorded a 287 in the first round and a 285 in the second to finish with a 572 team score, 30 shots ahead of second place Wilmington University “B”, which finished at 602. Wilmington “A” placed third at 607, followed by Goldey-Beacom at 608, Wesley “A” at 621, and Wesley “B” at 640.

The team title was the fourth straight for the Blue Hens, who extended their school-record winning streak. Delaware, which had never previously won three straight, previously captured the Scotty Duncan Memorial, Joe Agee invitational and Lincoln Mercury Invitational.

McLister, who won his second tournament of the season after earning medalist honors at the Scotty Duncan Memorial on October 4-5, shot a four under par 68 during his first round on the par 72, 6794-yard course at Wild Quail Country Club.

McLister then followed with a three under par 69 during the second round of the day, finishing seven under par at 137. Sophomore Greg Matthias came in second place five shots behind McLister after two rounds of 71 to finish two under par at 142.

Junior Justin Martinson tied for third place with a three over par score of 75-72-147, while sophomore Stephen Scialo also tied for third after shooting 73-74-147, three over par.

Freshman Jerry Temple shot 74-74-148, four over par, to tie for sixth place in the individual standings, while senior Mike Barrow finished eighth after shooting 76-73-149, five over par.

Freshman Bobby Arthur tied for 22nd place after he shot 79-80-159, 15 over par, while sophomore Bobby Arthur tied for 27th place after shooting 79-82-161, 17 over par.

The Blue Hens wrap up their outstanding fall season on October 26-27 when Delaware competes in the Old Dominion Invitational at Nags Head, N.C.
