Delaware Golfers Place 7th at Scotty Duncan Memorial

 

EASTON, MD -- The University of Delaware golf team placed seventh out of eight teams at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday at Hog Neck Golf Club.

Delaware, the host school, shot a two-day total of 653 to place seventh. American University took the team honors with a two-day total of 619 followed by UMBC (630), Towson and George Washington (631), and Iona (651).

The annual tournament honors the late Scotty Duncan, longtime University of Delaware golf coach and administrator who was inducted into the University of Delaware Hall of Fame last fall.

Freshman Terry Maguire (77-82) and junior Mark Swinger (81-78) led the Blue Hens, tying for eighth place overall with scores of 159 over the 7,088-yard, par-72 course. Mike Ladden was 21st in 79- 84=163, Graig O'Brien was 36th at 83-93=176, and Ryan Morrissey was 39th in 90-89=179.

American's Scott Erlich shot a five-over par 149 (75-74) to take the individual title, edging George Washington's Tim Derdenger by two strokes.
