Delaware Golfers Place 23rd at Navy
Spring Invitational
ANNAPOLIS, MD The University of Delaware
golf team shot a two-day total of 658 to tie for 23rd place
at the United States Naval Academy Spring Invitational
Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
The Blue Hens shot 326 on Saturday and 332 on
Sunday to tie with Colgate for last place in the 24-team
tournament. Seton Hall won the team title with a 36-hole
total of 583, easily outdistancing runner-up James Madison
(600) and Penn State (608).
Delawares top finisher was Graig
OBrien who tied for 78th at 85-78=163. Also for
the Hens, Mike Ladden was 90th (79-86=165), Terry
Maguire (83-83=166) and Ben Fenicle (79-87=166)
tied for 94th, and Mark Swinger (88-85=173) tied for
114th.
Seton Halls Eugene Smith fired a two-day total of
70-71=141, good for one-under on the 6,611-yard, par 71
course, to take the individual medalist honors. Chad Collins
of Methodist was second at 77-68=145, four strokes back.
