Delaware Golfers Place 27th at Wm. & Mary Invitational

 

WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware placed 27th out of 30 teams at the William & Mary Invitational Tuesday at the 6,405- yard, par 72 Kiskiack Golf Course.

The Blue Hens shot a team total of 655 over the two-day event. James Madison won the tournament with a team score of 586 followed by Richmond, Old Dominion, George Mason, and Cincinnati.

Junior Mark Swinger led the Blue Hens with a 63rd place finish, shooting scores of 79 and 78 for a 157 finish. Also for the Hens, Mike Ladden was 116th at 83-81=164; Terry Maguire was 116th in his first collegiate appearance at 85-81=166; Graig O'Brien was 125th at 86-82=168; and Jason Phinney was 132nd at 88-83=171.

 

Final Team Standings (30 teams): 1. James Madison - 586; 2. Richmond - 593; 3. Old Dominion & George Mason - 596; 5. Cincinnati - 598.......27. Delaware - 655; 28. Drexel - 661; 29. Fairleigh Dickinson - 678; 30. LaSalle - 721.

Top Individuals: 1. James Stefanik (C.Connecticut), 72-71=143; 2. Chris Blocher (St. Bona.), 69-75=144 & Michael Gooden (JMU), 73-71=144.
