St. John's Invitational at Bethpage GC of Bethpage, NY Oct. 2-3, 1998 11th Place
Junior Mike Ladden fired a 71 and
freshman Ben Fenicle (Camp Hill/Camp Hill,
PA) finished with a 73 to lead the University of
Delaware to an 11th place finish at the Walter
McLaughlin Red Storm Men's Golf Invitational hosted
by St. John's Saturday at Bethpage Country Club.
Delaware fired a two-day, 36-hole total of 605 to
place 11th, one stroke behind Princeton. Wisconsin
won the team title at 574 followed by Methodist and
host St. John's. A total of 20 teams competed in
the tournament. Ladden (Conestoga/Berwyn, PA) shot
77-71=148 to tie for 18th place overall to lead the
Blue Hens. Also for the Hens, Graig O'Brien
(Maloney/Meriden, CT) placed 28th at 74-76=150,
Mark Swinger was 33rd at 76-75=151, and
freshmen Fenicle, (87-73) and Jason Phinney
(83-77) tied for 84th at 160. Cincinnati's Jim
Herman took medalist honors, shooting a two-under
72-66=138.

- 588; 5. Cincinnati - 593; 6. Rutgers &
Detroit-Mercy - 597; 8. George Washington - 603; 9.
