The architect of Delaware's women's lacrosse dynasty in the early 1980's, Smith was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame this past June and will be inducted into the Ursinus College Hall of Fame later this year. Smith posted a 10-year record of 118-51-1 between 1980-89 and led the Blue Hens to three straight national titles, claiming AIAW titles in 1981 and 1982 and the NCAA title in 1983. She also coached nine All-Americans and led Delaware to four East Coast Conference titles. She also served as assistant field hockey coach for 10 seasons to Mary Ann Hitchens, helping to guide the team to six national playoff appearances. She is currently an associate professor in physical education at the University of Delaware.
