A fixture with the UD athletics program for over 40 years as an athlete, coach, and administrator, "Coach" was recognized as one of the most respected golf coaches and administrators in the country during his career. A 1948 graduate of Delaware, Duncan lettered in four sports for the Blue Hens, including a spot on the undefeated 1948 Small College national champion Blue Hen football team. His legendary career as Delaware's golf coach was highlighted by a 27-year record of 365-94 in which his teams never had a losing season. He led his teams to six conference titles and to the EIGA Eastern title and an NCAA Tournament bid in 1977. Also an assistant football and baseball coach at Delaware, he was inducted into the statewide Delaware Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.
