BOSTON -- Senior guard Kestutis Marciulionis scored a game-high 14 points and hit two free throws with three seconds left to ice the game as the University of Delaware edged host Boston University 62-59 in an America East men's basketball game Friday night at Case Gym. The Hens (13-3, 5-1 America East), who have now won four straight, held the lead the final 12 minutes but never by more than seven points as the Terriers (3-12, 2-4) held tough but lost for the sixth time in their last seven outings. Delaware's 7-1 backup center Ndongo Ndiaye matched a career-high with 12 points on 6 for 8 shooting and added five rebounds and five blocked shots. Delaware's leading scorer, 6-5 Mike Pegues, hit just 1 of 14 shots from the field but finished with 12 points. Paul Seymour led Boston University with 23 points, including five three-pointers, and 10 rebounds while Jean Avebe added 16 points and 14 rebounds. The Terriers held a 46-34 advantage on the boards. "Whenever we win on the road in conference, I"m happy," said Delaware head coach Mike Brey, whose team downed Boston University for the fourth straight time. "It's the mark of a champion when you can win on the road. Our defense won it for us tonight. Mike Pegues was not himself, but Ndongo stepped up off the bench and Kestutis was clutch for us once again." Delaware, which entered the game having shot better than 50 percent from the floor in four straight games, struggled from the field, connecting on just 18 of 48 shots (.375). However, the Hens committed just nine turnovers. Boston University jumped out to a quick 14-5 lead in the first seven minutes of the game as the Hens hit just two field goals in the first eight minutes. But the Hens quickly regrouped and tied the score at 19-19 with 5:59 left in the half and eventually took a 27-24 lead into halftime. Boston University tied the game at 36-36 with 12:02 left to play, but Marciulionis followed with a three-pointer and added a layup to put the Hens up for good at 41-36 with 11:33 left. But the Delaware lead never grew to more than seven as the Terriers kept the game close, cutting the lead to one three times, the last at 60-59 with seven seconds left on a dunk by Avebe after Delaware's Austen Rowland missed two free throws.
