NEWARK, DE -- The University of Maine got 18 points from forward Nate Fox and took advantage of a cold-shooting University of Delaware squad to post a 71-56 America East men's basketball victory Saturday night at the Bob Carpenter Center, snapping the Blue Hens' 17-game home win streak.

Fox also added nine rebounds, Colin Haynes came off the bench to add 13 points, including four three-pointers, and guard Andy Bedard scored 12 points and dished out nine assists as the Black Bears (16-5, 8-2 America East) won their third straight game.

Delaware (15-5, 7-3), which had a two-game win streak snapped, shot just 33 percent from the field (21 of 64) and hit just 1 of 25 three-pointers, losing at home for the first time since Maine ended the Hens' 15-game home win streak Jan. 22, 1999.

Delaware has lost just two of its last 34 home games with both setbacks coming at the hands of Maine. Maine, which swept the season series with the Hens, is the only America East team with a winning record vs. Delaware at the BCC, site of the league tournament, at 5-4.

Forward Mike Pegues led Delaware with 16 points and seven rebounds while Darryl Presley, making his first appearance in seven games due to a hairline fracture of his tibia, added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Despite missing all 10 of its first half three-pointers, Delaware took a 32-28 advantage into intermission. But Maine quickly got the advantage in the second half, outscoring Delaware 10-2 in the first six minutes to go up 38-34. Maine upped the lead to 10 points at 48-38 with 12:19 left before Delaware chipped away at the lead.

Delaware cut the Maine lead to four points at 58-54 with 4:10 left but could never get closer. Bedard nailed a three-pointer with 1:54 to put Maine up 64-56 then nailed four straight free throws in the final 52 seconds to ice the win.
