Rider 66, Delaware 49

November 29, 1999

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Delaware saw its 14-game regular season winning streak come to an end Monday night with a 66-49 defeat at Rider.

The 49 points marked the lowest offensive output in Mike Brey's tenure and was the lowest point total by a Delaware team since March 20, 1992 - a 72-47 loss to Cincinnati in the NCAA Tournament's first round. It was the lowest point total in a regular season game since November 1990.

The Blue Hens fought back from a 15-point deficit midway through the second half (45-30) to close to within a point, 47-46, on Mike Pegues' layup with just over five minutes remaining.

However, Rider would score 19 of the final 22 points to win the game going away. Michael Crawford sparked the run for the Broncs (3-1) with 13 of his 20 points in the spurt. Crawford gave Rider a 50-46 lead with a three-pointer at the 4:54 mark. He followed that up with a three-point bomb from NBA range after Ndongo Ndiaye had connected on two free throws to pull Delaware within two.

After two Crawford free throws made it a seven-point Rider lead, he drove another nail in the coffin by hitting a three-pointer from the right corner to make it 58-48.

The Blue Hens, playing shorthanded for the second straight game due to injuries to John Gordon, Darryl Presley and Austen Rowland, fell behind quickly as Mario Porter scored Rider's first 10 points to help the Broncs to a 15-6 lead in the first eight minutes.

Pegues finished the game with 16 points, despite being held to 1 for 9 from the field in the first half. Greg Miller added 15 points, including three three-pointers. Ndiaye had five points, nine rebounds and seven blocks - just one shy of the school record.
