Delaware 82, Towson 70 January 22, 2000   Pegues, Ndiaye Lead Delaware Past Towson 82-70 in Men's Basketball   NEWARK, DE -- Senior forward Mike Pegues moved closer to the school's all-time scoring record with 26 points and Greg Miller came off the bench to score 12 points and pull a team-high seven rebounds as the University of Delaware got past Towson 82-70 in an America East men's basketball game Saturday night at the Bob Carpenter Center. The Blue Hens (14-4, 6-2 America East) bounced back from a loss at Northeastern Sunday to post their 16th straight home win at the BCC. Center Ndongo Ndiaye added 10 points and blocked eight shots and Billy Wells added 11 points off the bench to lead the Delaware effort. Towson, which has already surpassed last season's win total, fell to 9-8, 5-4 despite 19 points and 14 rebounds from forward Brian Barber and a career-high 21 points from guard Raul De Pablo. De Pablo connected on all six of his three-pointers as the Tigers were 9 for 13 from beyond the three-point arc. Forward Josh Davalli chipped in with 14 points for Towson, which was hurt by 21 turnovers. The first half featured six ties and several lead changes before the Hens used a 9-0 spurt to end the half en route to a 39-31 lead at intermission. Towson threatened early in the second half, using a 10-2 run to tie the score at 49-49 on a De Pablo three-pointer with 13:36 left to play. But the Hens countered with a 9-2 run, including six points from Ndiaye, to go up 58-51 with 10:53 and never looked back. The Tigers never got closer than 10 points the final five minutes as the Hens converted 10 of 12 free throws in the final 1:21. Pegues, who notched his 34th career 20-point game, also added four assists and four blocks. He upped his career scoring total to 1,711 points, just two behind all-time leader, forward Greg Smith, who scored 1,713 in 1993-97. Smith was in attendance at the game in anticipation of the record.
