NEWARK, DE -- Senior guard Billy Wells scored a game-high 26 points and connected on five three-pointers and senior guard Greg Miller added 12 points as the University of Delaware men's basketball team looked sharp in its final exhibition tune-up, an 86-69 win over the London Leopards Thursday night at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Blue Hens, who shot 60 percent (30 of 50) from the field and connected on 7 of 11 three-pointers vs. the Leopards, will open the David Henderson coaching era this Monday night when they travel to Temple University for a pre-season National Invitational Tournament game at 7:30 p.m.

The Leopards, a touring team from Australia which defeated No. 25 ranked University of Virginia 89-88 last week, got 23 points from center Maurice Robinson, 16 points from guard Lelton Brown, and 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists from forward Ricola Alderson.

A total of seven different Blue Hen players scored seven or more points with guard Austen Rowland scoring nine points and dishing out nine assists while Ryan Iversen came off the bench and had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Hens built a 36-27 halftime lead despite trailing 19-12 when UD forward Ajmal Basit picked up his third foul with 11:04 left. But with their top rebounder out of the game, the Hens stormed out on a 12-2 run to take the lead for good at 24-21 with 6:48 left. Wells scored five points during the run while forward Maurice Sessoms scored four.

London never got closer than five points the entire second half as Wells delivered 16 of his game-high 26 points. Delaware led by as much as 21 points at 81-60 with 2:22 left to play.
