As a
Blue Hen
2004-05
Season: Speedy guard...great defender
who also has a 40-inch vertical
leap...will see significant playing time
in the Blue Hen backcourt...enters the
season ranked 21st all-time at Delaware
with 118 career three-point
attempts...
2003-04
Season: Appeared in all but one game
on the year...averaged 5.5 points per
game...ranked fourth on the team with 22
steals...was 15th in the league in CAA
games with 1.29 three-pointers made per
game...scored a career-high 20 points,
hitting 6-of-10 three-point field goal
attempts, at Hofstra on February
4...scored a team-high 17 points and was
3-of-3 from behind the arc in the
season-opening 75-72 overtime win at Mount
St. Mary's on November 21...hit for double
figures in five other games...posted a
double-double with 10 points and a
career-best 10 rebounds in the 80-76
overtime win over Towson on February
7...hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to
force overtime as the Blue Hens rallied
from a six-point deficit in the final
minute and defeated William & Mary,
93-82, on January 21...hit a three-pointer
in the final minute of both overtimes at
Virginia Commonwealth on February
25...
2002-03
Season: Appeared in 22 games as a
rookie, playing double-digit minutes in 10
of those games...sparked a late rally when
he had a season-high 10 points at Siena
(snapped an 0-for-20 shooting slump with
two big three-pointers down the
stretch)...missed most of the month of
February after separating his shoulder
against William & Mary...returned for
the regular season finale against Towson,
scoring five points in 16 minutes, and
appeared in both CAA Tournament
games.
High
School: Two-time all-conference
honorable mention selection and three-year
starter at Edward White HS...graduated
from Edward White in 2001, but was not
recruited (partly because his team had
four coaches in four years)...he is the
first player from Edward White HS in 11
years to earn a basketball scholarship at
a Division I school...played a season of
recreation league ball and was mentored by
former Clemson guard Grayson Marshall
(Marshall later called Delaware coaches to
put them onto Washington)...named MVP of
the Johnny T. Smith Tournament in
1999...honor roll student and earned
team's scholar-athlete award for highest
GPA on the team.
Personal:
Rulon Kim Washington...born February
1, 1983 in San Diego, CA...son of Kim and
Larna Washington...health sciences major
at Delaware...cousin of former University
of Hartford standout guard Michael
Griffin...wants to get into coaching after
