KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- University of Delaware senior guard Marc Egerson (at right) was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 10 First Team, the organization announced Thursday.
Egerson, a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection earlier this week, started all 31 games this season while leading the Blue Hens with 15.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He is one of 17 players in Division I to average a double-double, and is the only player to average over 10 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Egerson leads the CAA and ranks 16th in Division I with 10.3 rebounds per game, and also leads the league with 14 double-doubles, 8.6 defensive rebounds per game and 36.4 minutes played per game. He is also fourth in the conference with a 38.3 three-point field goal percentage and is fifth with 15.5 points per game. He reached the 20-point mark 12 times this season, including a career-high 28 points in the season opener against Rutgers.
Despite appearing in just 56 games at Delaware after transferring from Georgetown, Egerson ranks 10th in Blue Hen history with 17 career double-doubles, tied for 18th with 89 three-pointers made, 29th with 496 rebounds and 41st with 814 points. Egerson’s 331 rebounds this year are the fourth most in a season season at Delaware, while his 492 points are 12th highest.
Egerson is just the third Blue Hen to earn NABC All-District honors, and the first since Mike Pegues earned the award in 1998-99 and 1999-2000. Spencer Dunkley was also named to the All-District First Team in the 1992-93 season.
Egerson is now eligible for the State Farm Coaches’ Division I All-America teams that will be announced on Saturday, April 4 in Detroit.
Egerson was joined on the District 10 First Team by fellow CAA players Eric Maynor of VCU, Matt Janning of Northeastern, Gerald Lee of Old Dominion, and Charles Jenkins of Hofstra.
