RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware men’s basketball senior guard Marc Egerson was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Egerson scored a game-high 23 points in the Blue Hens’ loss to Towson last Wednesday, going 8 of 14 from the field including 4 of 6 from three-point range. He also tied for the team lead with five rebounds and dished out two assists in 39 minutes of action against the Tigers.
Egerson again led Delaware with 20 points and a game-best 14 rebounds in Saturday’s victory over James Madison, as he posted his league-leading 14th double-double of the season and eclipsed the 20-point mark for the 12th time this year. He went 6 of 7 from the free throw line and also led the Blue Hens with three steals on the day.
Egerson, who is one of 17 players in Division I currently averaging a double-double, is tied for 10th in the nation with 14 double-doubles. He currently leads the CAA with 10.4 rebounds per game, 8.6 defensive rebounds per game, and 36.4 minutes played per game. Egerson also ranks fourth in the league with a 38.9 three-point field goal percentage and is fifth with 15.5 points per game.
Egerson’s 322 rebounds this season are tied for sixth most in a UD single season, while his 481 points are 13th. He currently ranks 10th in Delaware history with 17 double-doubles, 19th with 88 three-pointers made, 30th with 487 rebounds, and 41st with 803 points.
Egerson shared Player of the Week honors with Charles Jenkins of Hofstra, while Quinn McDowell of William & Mary was named the conference Rookie of the Week.
Egerson and the Blue Hens face Georgia State on Friday at 12 noon at the Richmond Coliseum in the first round of the CAA Tournament.
