At Delaware: Tri-captain...outstanding low-post player with good shot blocking ability...emotional player with great intensity on the court, very different from his friendly personality away from the floor...2000-01 Season: Expected to step right in and be a big part of filling the void caused by Mike Pegues' graduation…Pre-season all-conference candidate…1999-2000 Season: Sat out per NCAA Transfer regulations after transferring from University of Massachusetts...At University of Massachusetts: 1998-99 Season: While at UMass was one of the top sixth men off of the bench in the Atlantic 10...appeared in 22 games in 1998-99 with eight starts, averaging 4.8 ppg and 4.0 rpg...shot 50% from the floor (39-78)...1997-98 Season: Averaged 6.8 ppg and 5.4 rpg as a sophomore with the Minutemen...appeared in all 32 games with three starts...earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors after recording 15 points and 19 rebounds at No. 21 Rhode Island...had eight points, seven rebounds and a UMass career-high six blocks vs. Cincinnati at the Rock-n-Roll Classic...recorded a blocked shot in 21 of 32 games in his sophomore season...1996-97 Season: Appeared in 31 games with nine starts...led all UMass freshman in minutes (13.5 per game)...had a UMass career-high 16 points vs. Fresno State...had eight points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in UMass' win over Drexel.

High School: Attended St. Anthony's HS in Jersey City, NJ, playing for the legendary Bob Hurley, Sr....team won the mythical National Champion in his senior year when he averaged 16.0 ppg, 15.0 rpg and 4.0 bpg (31-0 record)...listed as one of the Top 175 high school seniors by Blue Ribbon Magazine...averaged 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks per game as a junior.

Personal: Ajmal Latise Basit...born Sept. 17, 1978...son of Ahmad and Teresa Basit...economics major at Delaware with a minor in African-American studies...wears a size 19 shoe.
