John Gordon matched a career-high with 21 points and Mike Pegues powered his way for 15 points and eight rebounds as the University of Delaware opened up America East play with a 70-62 win over Drexel on the road in Philadelphia.

The Blue Hens improved to 6-0 on the season, tying the 1971-72 team for the best start in school history. The win was also the Blue Hens' first at Drexel since winning the America East title game in 1992-93.

The Hens held Drexel at arms length the entire game. After jumping out to a 33-25 halftime lead, the Blue Hens led by at least three points the entire second half. Every time Drexel (2-2, 0-1) got close, the Blue Hens made a small run to take back control.

Drexel, playing without injured star center Joe Linderman, got 19 points and seven rebounds from Mike Kouser and 13 points from Petrick Sanders.

The Hens led by as much as 14 points in the second half at 68-54 with 58 seconds left to play. Greg Miller added 11points for the Blue Hens.
