NEWARK, DE -- Junior guard Kestutis Marciulionis came off the bench to score a career-high 33 points and junior guard John Gordon sent the game into overtime with a three-pointer with 10 seconds left in regulation as the University of Delaware knocked off league -leading Drexel 99-91 in an America East men's basketball thriller Wednesday before a sellout crowd of 5,000 at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Marciulionis, a native of Lithuania who missed two games last week while the NCAA investigated his amateur status, connected on 9 of 15 shots from the field and hit on all 13 free throws to surpass his previous high of 22 points. The Hens (14-5, 7-3) won their second straight and completed their first season sweep over Drexel since the 1991-92 season. Junior forward Mike Pegues added 23 points and nine rebounds, Gordon finished with 18 points , and Madou Diouf came off the bench to add 10 points and 11 rebounds for Delaware.

Drexel (11-6, 8-2), which had an eight-game conference win streak snapped, dropped back into a tie for first place with Maine, which defeated Vermont in overtime Wednesday. Junior center Joe Linderman led four Drexel scorers in double figures with 28 points while guard Bryant Coursey added 16 points and forward Mike Kouser chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Marciulionis broke an 87-87 tie in overtime, hitting two free throws with 3:20 left and following with a layup to put the Hens up for good. After Delaware built a 46-34 halftime lead, the Dragons chipped away at the lead and took an 80-75 advantage with 1:22 left to play in regulation. But Gordon hit two free throws and Marciulionis added a jumper to cut the Drexel lead to 80-79 with 21 seconds left. Coursey followed with two free throws to put Drexel up 82-79 with 16 seconds left before Gordon came down and nailed a three-pointer from 22 feet at the top of the key to send the game into the extra session.

Marciulionis' 33 points was the most by a Delaware backcourt player since Mark Murray scored 37 points vs. Drexel Feb. 7, 1991 in Philadelphia.
