Sept. 18, 1999 NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women's cross country claimed its first team title of the 1999 season, while the men's team earned a second place finish at the UD Invitational held Saturday in White Clay Creek State Park. Delaware won the Division I meet on the women's side, while East Stroudsburg won the Division II/III title. Towson University won the Division I men's meet, while Kutztown University won the Division II/III meet. West Chester's Kelly Walton won the women's individual title. Walton finished the 5,000-meter course in 18:38, the 23rd fastest time ever for the women's course at White Clay Creek State Park. Delaware's top finisher was Caron Marra, who finished in third place with a time of 19:01. Aimee Alexander was the Hens' next best runner with a fifth-place finish in 19:32. Towson's Doug Stewart won the men's individual title. Stewart finished the 8,000-meter course in 27:14. Delaware's top male finisher was Mark Dawson.
