BRONX, NY -- Mike DiGennaro
(Essex, MA/Hamilton-Wenham) set a course record in becoming
the first Delaware runner to win the IC4A Championships at
Van Cortlandt Park Saturday in the Bronx.
DiGennaro ran the course in 24:52.40 to
set the record, narrowly defeating Yale's Robert Doyle, who
finished in 24:54.50. The race was the final meet in
DiGennaro's career.
Penn State won the team title with 40
points, edging Cornell (100), William & Mary (118), and
Georgetown (144). Delaware finished ninth of 16 teams with
261 points.
Pat Riley came in 22nd in
25:33.10, Pat Boettcher was 68th in 26:37.20, Matt
Swierzbinski finished 90th in 27:23.10, and Pete
Kelly was 94th in 27:34.80 for the Blue Hens.
The race was the final meet of the season
for the men's cross country team.
