MANASSAS, Va. -- The University of Delaware men’s and women’s cross country teams, which will both compete at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship this Saturday at George Mason’s Bull Run Regional Park, were ranked once again in the weekly United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic poll announced Tuesday.

The Delaware women were ranked No. 10 for the fourth straight week while the Blue Hen men were picked No. 13 for the fourth consecutive week.

Princeton remained at No. 1 in the women’s poll followed by West Virginia, Villanova, Georgetown, Penn State, Navy, Maryland, Bucknell, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Lehigh, Duquesne, LaSalle, Rutgers, and Saint Joseph’s. Georgetown topped the men’s poll followed by Princeton, Penn State, Villanova, Saint Joseph’s, Duquesne, LaSalle, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Navy, Lehigh, American, Delaware, Pittsburgh, and Bucknell.

Both Delaware teams will compete at the CAA Championships in Saturday with the women’s six-kilometer race beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the men’s eight-kilometer race at 11 a.m.

The Delaware men, who have finished in the top four in three meets this season, will be looking to improve upon last year’s fourth place finish at the CAA meet and will be looking to crack the top three for the first time since a third place finish in 2003. Junior Nick Pyle (at right), who placed 21st at last year’s championship, is the Hens’ top returning runner. Junior Chris Bourke has led the Hens in three meets this season.

The Blue Hen women, who have finished in the top six in three meets this season, will be aiming to improve upon last season’s fourth place finish at the CAA meet, which was held at Hofstra. Delaware has placed in the top four at the CAA meet each of the last three seasons and will be looking to crack the top three for the first time since a third place finish in 2001.

Junior Christina Antonopoulos was Delaware’s top finisher at the CAA meet a year ago with an eighth place finish that earned her All-CAA honors. She has led the team in two meets this season. Senior Julia Somers, who has also led the Blue Hen twice this season, placed 10th at the 2006 CAA Championships before missing last season’s competition with an injury.

The William & Mary men have captured each of the last eight team titles and the Tribe women are the five-time defending team champions.
