 NEW ORLEANS -- The University of Delaware men’s cross country squad moved up one spot to No. 13 and the Blue Hen women remained at No. 14 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region polls released Wednesday.
Both of head coach Jim Fischer’s squads will be off this weekend after competing at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships this past weekend. The teams will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships next Saturday, Nov. 14, at Princess Anne, Md.
Last week at the CAA meet in New Market, Va., the UD men placed third overall in the team standings behind a fifth place All-CAA finish by Chris Bourke. The finish was the team’s highest since a third place showing in 2003. The UD women finished fourth at the meet as Julia Somers finished 15th overall.
The Delaware men moved up one spot to No. 13 this week after being ranked 14th the previous three weeks in the regional poll. The Blue Hen women remained No. 14 for the fourth straight week.
In the men’s poll, Georgetown was ranked No. 1 followed by Villanova, Princeton, Navy, Saint Joseph’s, American, Bucknell, LaSalle, Maryland, Penn State, Temple, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Lehigh, and St. Francis (Pa.).
In the women’s poll, Villanova was the top-ranked team followed by Princeton, West Virginia, Penn State, Georgetown, Bucknell, Maryland, Navy, Duquesne, LaSalle, Penn, Saint Joseph’s, George Washington, Delaware, and Lafayette.
