BOSTON -- The University of Delaware
men's indoor track and field team posted five top seven
finishes at the Terrier Invitational Sunday at the Boston
University Armory.
Leading the way for the Blue Hens was
junior Butch Patrick (Newark/Newark, DE) who captured
the long jump with a leap of 23-10 1/4 and placed fourth in
the 55 meter dash with a school record time of 6.41 seconds.
Patrick broke the UD record of 6.43 set by former Blue Hen
football standout and former five-year National Football
League cornerback Tim Jacobs in 1992. Patrick now
holds UD records in the 55 meters, 60 meters (6.87), and
long jump (24 1/4).
Also for the Blue Hens, Jon
DiNozzi (Fox Lane/Bedford, NY) placed second in the pole
vault with a leap of 15-5, Jamin Elliott
(Churchland/Portsmouth, VA) was fifth in the triple jump
with a distance of 46-9, and Michael Reh (Middletown,
NY HS) placed seventh in the high jump, clearing 6-4.
The University of Delaware men's and
women's indoor track and field teams will return to action
this weekend, Feb. 3-4, when the Blue Hens host the annual
Delaware Invitational at Delaware Field House. Over 30 men's
and women's teams are expected to compete.
