Reh Places Third in
High Jump to Pace Blue Hens
LANDOVER, MD -- Sophomore
Tyechia Smith (McNair/Jersey City, NJ) captured the
400 meters to lead the University of Delaware women and
Michael Reh (Middletown/Middletown, NY) led the Blue
Hen with a third place finish in the high jump at the Prince
George's Indoor Track and Field Invitational Sunday at
Prince George's Sports and Learning Center.
Delaware athletes posted 28 top 10
finishes on the women's side and 13 top 10 finishes on the
men's side in the open non-scoring meet that also included
teams from Towson, Maryland, Moravian, Goucher, Rowan, Mary
Washington, Western Maryland, American, Roanoke, Bowie
State, Temple, California (Pa.), Howard Community College,
Lincoln, Georgetown, Montgomery Community College, and the
College of Villa Julie.
Smith was the lone Blue Hen champion in
the meet as she won the 400 meters in a time of
1:00.12.
Placing second for the UD women was
Kristin Tunell (Christiana/Newark, DE) in the pole
vault (8-11 3/4), placing third were Sara Sievers
(Princeton/Cranbury, NJ) in the 400 meters (1:01.81),
Sarah Bochet (Trumbull, CT HS) in the 500 meters
(1:22.36), Diethra Seymour (A.I. DuPont/Wilmington,
DE) in the weight throw (42-9 3/4), and Elizabeth
Russell (Red Bank Regional/Little Silver, NJ) in the
high jump (4-11 3./4).
Russell also placed eighth in the long
jump (12-10) and ninth in the 200 meters (27.50) while
Kerry Van Riper (Bethlehem Central/Delmar, NY) was
fourth in both the weight throw (41-6) and shot put (36-1
1/2).
Reh was the top Delaware men's finisher
as he cleared a season-best 6-4 in the high jump. Peter
Lenz (McKean/Hockessin, DE) was second in the 500 meters
(1:08.12), Brandon Nesbitt (Ewing/Trenton, NJ) was
fifth in the 500 meters (1:08.60), and Mike Yost
(Lake Forest/Felton, DE) was fifth in the weight throw
(45-5 1/4) and sixth in the shot put (41-8 1/2).
Both Delaware teams will host the Thomson
Invitational this weekend (Feb. 2-3) at Delaware Field
House.
