BOSTON -- University of Delaware athletes competed in six events during the first day of the IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Boston University Armory and the ECAC Championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
For the Delaware women, sophomore Cristine Marquez placed sixth in the 400 meters (55.45) to advance to the final and 12th in the 200 meters (24.72) and teamed with Asha Quant, Kristi Cox, and Kayla Hennessy to place third in the 4 x 400 meter relay preliminaries with a school-record time of 3:45.44 to advance to the finals. Quant also placed tied for 26th in the 60 meters with a career-best time of 7.85.
For the Delaware men, the distance medley relay team of Will Jurkowski, Jeremy Simkins, Mike Zeberkiewicz (at right), and Brad Dodson placed 13th overall with a time of 10:09.53 and Dodson was 37th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:33.81.
Delaware junior Amanda Marshall will compete in the women’s weight throw, juniors Laura Chirico and Kelli McDonald will compete in the pole vault, and freshman John Viotto will take part in the men’s shot put on Sunday. Track event finals will also be held.
